NetApp is complying with the legal framework that the governments of the United States, European Union and United Kingdom have recently established, including all sanctions and regulations that are applicable to our business. As a direct result, NetApp has temporarily suspended business operations in Russia and Belarus. Europe is an important market for NetApp, and we will continue to work carefully to assess and respond to any updates across the region as the situation evolves.

NetApp, as a global company with employees, partners, and customers across multiple geographies, stands by the principles of peaceful conflict resolution and that the protection of human rights are non-negotiable. We are deeply concerned about the safety and security of the international community and our thoughts of care, support and resiliency are with all those impacted during this troubling time. NetApp is committed to the safety of our workers in Russia and Ukraine, and we are in contact with them to offer support. As we navigate this evolving situation, we encourage care, compassion, and empathy within our global communities.

NetApp is also closely monitoring reports of increases in cyberattacks connected with this situation and will continue to update cybersecurity countermeasures as new threats emerge.

NetApp will continue to update this advisory as additional information becomes available and will provide answers to common questions below. This advisory should be considered the single source of current, up-to-date, authorized and accurate information from NetApp regarding this situation.

Frequently Asked Questions (Updated March 11, 2022)

  1. For entities that are based in Russia or Belarus and own assets outside of Russia or Belarus, can NetApp provide support on those assets (located outside of Russia or Belarus)?  
    NetApp is obligated to comply with United States and European Union sanctions measures imposed on Russia and Belarus. NetApp is currently reviewing those customers, entities, and partners with ties to Russia and Belarus to determine whether an export license may be obtained for transactions outside of Russia or Belarus. NetApp will work with the relevant trade authorities to obtain approval for transactions, where applicable. Until such time as an export license is received or the sanctions are lifted, NetApp may not transact with customers who are sanctioned or in the sanctioned areas. At this time, NetApp can not commit to an estimated time to receive any export license.

  2. How do these sanctions affect the entitlements of assets in Russia or Belarus which are owned by a multi-national company (based outside of Russia or Belarus)?

Accordingly, NetApp has suspended service and support to assets in Belarus and Russia. NetApp is currently reviewing those customers, entities, and partners who are based outside of Russia and Belarus to determine whether an export license may be obtained for transactions in Russia or Belarus. NetApp will work with the relevant trade authorities to obtain approval for transactions, where applicable. Until such time as an export license is received or the sanctions are lifted, NetApp may not transact with customers who are sanctioned or in the sanctioned areas. At this time, NetApp can not commit to an estimated time to receive any export license.

  3. In the case of a multi-national company with assets in multiple countries, will NetApp continue to support assets located outside of Russia or Belarus?
    A multi-national company, not impacted by sanctions or related restrictions may still receive support on entitled assets located outside of Russia and Belarus. Additionally, employees not impacted by sanctions or related measures may continue to have access to NetApp Support Site so long as their support agreements are paid and active.
