ISC West is the largest physical security conference in North America, and this year, NetApp was part of it. This year’s conference broke attendance records, with customers, technology vendors, and systems integrators from all over the world coming together to discuss the latest high-end security products.

NetApp Partners with Innovators to Deliver Complete Video Surveillance Solutions

We had a booth on the ISC West show floor, along with over 1,000 other exhibitors. It was an incredible opportunity for us to showcase our end-to-end video surveillance solutions with our technology partners, our distributors, and our systems integrators. We featured technology partners such as Axis Communications and Milestone Systems; distributors such as Velasea; and systems integrators, including Stone Security, Pathway Technologies, and UNICOM Global.

These systems integrators, in particular, showcased some incredible developments in video surveillance, not just to improve security, but also to help businesses generate revenue and find new customers.

Stone Security, for example, exhibited its advanced facial-recognition technology in partnership with Milestone and BriefCam, an industry leader in video analytics. By deploying facial recognition, Stone Security is helping businesses enable multifactor authentication by using video surveillance. This capability is especially useful for business parks and corporate campuses where ID badges are the primary form of authentication. If somebody tries to get into the building and their face doesn’t match the face on their badge, an alert can be triggered and security personnel can be notified.

UNICOM Global was also in our booth with us, demonstrating UNICOM’s new situational-awareness application. UNICOM uses facial recognition and object detection and analysis to improve security in airports and in other busy public places. By using situational awareness, UNICOM’s technology can detect unattended objects such as boxes and briefcases that could pose potential security threats, enabling security personnel to rapidly assess and neutralize them before they become problems. Rather than requiring a human to visually scan footage from hundreds of cameras to look for these types of threats, UNICOM’s video surveillance applications can spot problems, saving hours of time and reducing personnel burnout.

Our partners from Pathway showcased how that company’s technology can help your organization unify security data from legacy systems and from newer infrastructure. With Pathway, you don’t need to rip and replace your entire system to get the benefits of modern video surveillance. Pathway technologies enable you to take advantage of new developments like facial recognition and artificial intelligence (AI) without being obstructed in access or in retrieval of data from older systems.

We also had our distribution partner Velasea in our booth, showing its NVR (network video recorder) solution. Velasea makes it easy for systems integrators to order storage and servers for video surveillance through its original equipment manufacturer (OEM) relationships. Systems integrators want a complete, best-in-class end-to-end video surveillance solution, and that’s what we provide with Velasea.

Enhance Security and Generate Business Value with Video Surveillance

Many of these technologies are being used not only for security enhancement, but also for business value generation. At ISC West, representatives for a large event venue in New York approached us to explain how the organization uses video surveillance both to keep attendees safe and to market to them. By using video surveillance technology to assist in targeted marketing campaigns after an event, this venue has greatly reduced its marketing and outreach costs.

Also at the conference, we saw demonstrations of how a venue can use facial recognition to analyze expressions on people’s faces to determine how customers feel about a particular kiosk or installation at the event. Venue managers can then use that data to make changes dynamically, such as adding more inventory or shifting staff to meet demand.

These innovations are pushing the limits of video and are turning video data into a source of revenue. But to take advantage of these modern developments in video surveillance, you need a modern, enterprise-grade video storage solution, which NetApp and its partners can deliver. That’s why we partner with systems integrators, distributors, and technology partners to deliver end-to-end video surveillance solutions for our customers. With a storage system that is built around reliability, scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness, you can scale your video deployments on demand without worrying about dropping frames or losing access to critical video data.

As developments in video surveillance continue to accelerate, NetApp will continue to partner with the industry leaders in security. We’re looking forward to what the future has in store for our partnerships—and we’re already making plans for ISC West 2020. We hope to see you there!

In the meantime, learn more about NetApp® video surveillance storage solutions and the many uses cases in which they can help you increase security and generate revenue opportunities.
