As medical science has pushed for improvements in equipment, the resulting technologies to support them have constantly improved. Radiology, MRIs, CT scans, recent developments in artificial intelligence (AI)—we understand more about the human body and how to treat it because of Siemens Healthineers.
To centralize the data needed to build these products, a cloud-first strategy for data services is gaining momentum at Siemens Healthineers. A recent project in Japan moved applications to the cloud, but the data and file shares needed to be moved as well.
To migrate the data to Azure, the cloud team deployed NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP. The team set a policy for tiering the archived data to Azure Blob. Application file shares were also moved to the cloud using NetApp Cloud Sync.
Migrations are seamless between on-prem and cloud, allowing for more flexible service delivery and cost control.
We will have one provider, one operating model, one unified architecture. It helps automate, so overall basically complexity goes down significantly for us.
